Holly got Cassidy these new jammies. They have turtles on them, and say "Daddy's sidekick", which is awesome. She also got him a couple more Sandra Boynton books, which he quite likes.
He's got some more teeth coming in, so he's been spending a lot of time with the gadget in the second picture. It's a little mesh bag that you can put an ice cube in; he sucks on it and drools all over everything and all is right in his little world.
Tomorrow he goes in to the pediatrician for his six-month checkup, including another round of vaccinations. Wish us luck.
p.s. - still no entries in the 'guess the musical reference in the title' contest. (this one is a little obscure.) Don't be shy; I know there's some music nerds out there!

i am a scientist
Another fun-filled weekend for Cassidy. On Saturday we went for a walk with Xavier and Sara and Cassidy got to meet their daughter Sofia. Another potential prom date for him in about 17 years! We think that she was suitably charmed by his savior-faire. Later that day he helped me beat Grandma Rachel in a game of Scrabble. He's quite good at the two-letter words.
For Father's Day, Cassidy and Holly and I went to the California Academy of Science. Cassidy was quite impressed with the aquarium. (So were we.) This was the first time he'd ever seen fish or coral. There's all kinds of cool stuff there; we hope to keep taking him back as he gets older and trick him into liking science as much as his parents do.

bongo fury
It's been a busy few days for Cassidy. He still enjoys his activity center, and has modeled the hat that Uncle Steve brought him back from China (it's a rat, since it's the Year of The Rat).
It was a busy Sunday for him - we went to visit Freya and DD and Mike - Cassidy and Freya held hands and hugged goodbye; we're planning to use these photos on their wedding invitation.
Later on, Kim and Sean came to visit and Cassidy demonstrated his bongo-playing skills. He's clearly one of the top six-month-old bongo players in SE San Francisco.

your favorite thing
As a belated six-month birthday present, we got Cassidy an "activity center", which he is quite impressed with. Holly and I clearly had horribly deprived childhoods, since these sorts of things didn't exist when we were kids.
We also took him to Golden Gate Park for a walk - he can be seen here with his mom observing some cool things not made of colorful plastic. He's also doing a little tummy time, complete with his ever-present drool stream. Perhaps a drool bucket will be his next present.
