ch-ch-ch-changes

So it's been a busy week here. Fern was here for a few days; Grandma Rachel is getting settled in, and we now have three cats trying to negotiate territory rights. Grandma Sonnie and Grandpa Chris are visiting, and of course impressed with Cassidy, as one would expect.

Since it's been a while, we have an extra-large photo gallery for your viewing enjoyment this time around.

come together

Cassidy has had a new set of visitors this week - his aunt Barb and cousin Sara came to visit on Wednesday, and Grandma Rachel and Fern arrived today. Rachel will be living with us for a while to help take care of Cassidy. He was quite excited to see everyone and gave them all a taste of his winning smile.

For those of you charting his progress, he's almost 3 1/2 months now. He's getting good at holding his head steady and sitting up - he's working on pulling himself up. He smiles and laughs and makes an adorably cute noise that's sort of a cross between a dolphin and a velociraptor.

50,000,000 cassidy fans can't be wrong

So Cassidy is 100 days old today. In some cultures, babies are considered to belong to the gods for the first 100 days - they're not named or allowed to touch the ground. We skipped ahead on the naming thing, but we're pleased to be able to let him touch the earth now. We think this means that it's now OK for us to start the arranged marriage process - ladies, please submit your dowry offers now!

Cassidy celebrated his centennial by visiting Holly's work for a coming out party. He had a lot of fun, got to meet some new fan club members, and got a ton of great presents (thanks, everyone!) He's pretty excited about St. Patrick's Day tomorrow - he has to be Irish given his name and the amount of green he wears, right?

cinema show

As you'll see from the video below, Cassidy has not only figured out how to grab things, but what should happen with them afterward.

Here's a riddle for you: What's his favorite fast food chain? (Highlight below for the answer)

Answer: Panda Express

i'm coming out

Hi all - sorry for the lack of updates.

It's been a busy week for Cassidy - on Wednesday we went over to El Sobrante for another playdate with Freya. They seem quite impressed with each other, which is understandable.

On Friday, Cassidy turned 3 months old. He celebrated with his first visit to his neurologist. This was a routine visit as a result of the seizures he experienced at birth. The good news is that he's doing great and seems to have suffered no lasting damage. We'll follow up down the line, but at this point there's nothing to be concerned about.

He's progressing along and learning new things - he can reach out and grasp his rattle, and can more or less hold his head up. He's also still growing well - he's up to 14 pounds now!

On Saturday, he had his biggest social event yet - we went out to Tilden Park for Rudd and Nancy's potluck. This was by far the biggest crowd he'd been around, as well as his longest car trip since coming home. He did great; everyone was (understandably) smitten with him. He had fun making new friends and checking everything out. By the time we got home he was pretty wiped out and just crashed.

baby you could be famous

Cassidy celebrated his 12-week birthday on Saturday. He can be seen here grabbing his rattle (a new development), practicing both sarvangasana, or shoulder stand (he calls it 'up-down') and sitting up, and looking askance at the paparazzi photographing him in an intimate moment with Pooh Bear. He's also mastered the art of putting his fingers in his mouth, and now spends the better part of his day trying to swallow his hand.
